Inverclyde produce a number of lectin extracts in 5 or 10ml volumes. The rapid slide extracts are avid reactors giving a positive reaction within 2 minutes on a slide. It has to be emphasised that these extracts incorporate potentiators and must not be diluted.
Anti-A1 - this extract is prepared from Dolichos biflorus and is a potent stable extract. It will strongly agglutinate A1 red cells but will not react with A2 red cells.
Anti-H - this extract is prepared from the seeds of Ulex europaeus and can be used in secretor status determination.
Anti-T - this extract is prepared from the seeds of Arachis hypogea and is useful when red cells are shown to be polyagglutinable. Newborn infants suffering from necrotising enterocolitica (NEC) can occasionally have polyagglutinable red cells which creates special needs when transfusing red cells or Fresh Frozen Plasma (FFP).
Anti-N - this extract is prepared from the leaves of Vicia unijuga offering a potent alternative to human or monoclonal anti-N.
